These are upright, succulent shrubs or small trees with sparsely branched trunks that thicken over time and resemble an Elephant's foot. In summer, mature plant send up stems bearing clusters of cream-white flowers which are edible that are high in calcium and potassium and mayy be used in salads. Plant in full sun where soils are dry to medium and free-draining. Drought tolerant and suitable for growing in containers and in coastal locations.
