A long-lived, deciduous tree that develops a magnificent spreading crown with lobed, rich green foliage. Produces inconspicuous chartreuse coloured catkins in Spring followed by the familiar oval-shaped acorns. When mature, these acorns are a valuable source of food for certain birds and small mammals. Once established, Quercus robur become a robust and sturdy specimen tree that provides good shade during the Summer. Easy to grow in full sun where soils are average, suitably moist and free-draining. Tolerates periods of drought.
May grow to between 18m and 20m in height
