A large evergreen shrub or small tree with smooth branches and reddish coloured stems and dark green foliage. Produces white flowers in late Spring, early Summer that are followed by small red berries that gradually turn black as they age. Typically grown for topiary work and for creating hedges or screens. Thrives in a sunny position in average type soils.
