Whiteywood and Mahoe. Native tree of New Zealand, found in forests, forest margins, and along waterways. Has pointed, oval-shaped foliage, grey-white bark, and small white flowers during spring, which then develop into small purple-black berries that are a good source of food for birds. Likes full sun or dappled, part-shade. Hardy but may need some protection from frosts when young. Evergreen.
Grows to approximately 8m to 10m.
