Alnus cordata, Italian Alder

A hardy, deciduous tree that is fairly quick to grow and is nitrogen-fixing with a reasonable amount od tolerance to drought. Excellent for planting out and growing as a shelter belt as they respond well to trimming. May also be use for soil conservation. Grows well in either full sun or partial shade in average type soils that are free-draining.

Untrimmed, they may grow to approximately 20m x 5m.
